When your engine is acting up, you go for a tune-up. Granted, the planet needs a little more than a tune up, a major overhaul perhaps - or even a clyster from both the ears to clear what had accumulated between the ears through centuries of greed-driven conflicts and superficial leaders running around for a term or more pretending to solve our problems, and taking care of our personal and financial security - without the faintest notion as to how really to go about it.
Typical island communities and isolated groups that appear from time to time invariably seek out those that can afford the luxury of Utopian life-style. That leads us once again to the same old heavens below for wealthy few. Well, my definition of Utopia begins and ends with assurance of basic comforts for all across the planet, every abandoned corner of it, in return for a measured contribution of human labor. And no matter how we interpret the little detail, basic human wants are identical cutting across continents and classes.
I doubt very much if anyone would really notice a Utopian community in LA or Vegas. But one in villages of India, Africa, Latin America can't escape anyone's notice. That incidentally answers the often asked question, - Why Utopia? It is obvious from the unsettling events of the last decade we can’t for very long, let alone for ever, appropriate and accumulate the fruits of endless toil of the abandoned. The growing number of disgruntled private armies across the globe inflicting untold damage is clear evidence in this regard. In other words, I see Universal Utopia as a trade-off for lasting global peace.
In my vision, Utopia simply is a redesign of our archaic living, working, loving practices - to generate an incredible urge in all of us to fuse and embrace those new principles that make peaceful co-habitation across the globe a reality. Surely lots of little details need to be worked out to arrive at a close-to-consensus point, though absolute consensus is neither practicable nor necessary to begin the joyous change-over. Then again, Utopia will evolve out of and survive the need to improvise on those principles as we discover better means to the greater goal.
Unless you believe that human ingenuity and the spirit to live free from misery and oppression are dead, OR that misery and oppression aren’t ecumenical afflictions - there is no reason to doubt that UNIVERSAL UTOPIA IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER! Why am I so certain? Hey, who among you don’t much care for endless lovin and carefree lafter replacing your tedious, anxiety-ridden existence of the day?
Is Universal Utopia possible? Does every woman - regardless of her race, color or origin - have a pair of marvellous breasts unique to herself? As a frequent traveller, I am yet to see an identical set. Have you? Studies claim that by 2080 we humans would all be of one color. It is precisely the excitement in exploring our differences that is going to transform us to a more tolerant and compassionate species in ecstasy!!
Mighty dream, you say! Since it does not cost anymore to dream bigger - why the fuck not? We might as well dream big and do our damnedest to realize the Big Os……
